Finding new ways

I’m a list maker. I thrive on them. It makes me happy. Lately, however, the first thing on my list is a reminder to breathe. I’m not in a race. I’m having to be reminded that slow is not a sin. My body has been taking hits which if I’m not careful my mind does too.  Getting older is a privilege off which I’m grateful, but it takes a village to keep what you see from doing a nosedive into the what ifs.

If you know of anyone with a chronic illness if you can get into that therapist’s office stat. Jesus helps more than one knows, but He’s also put qualified individuals there to be of help. I’ve also had to turn off the news. Turn off anything that heightens my own doubts.

I’ve had to turn off celebrity culture. It deifies imperfect human beings who can do no wrong. I’m sorry I used to love it. Now I don’t miss it. What is perception versus actual truth. If that can’t be discerned, I’m out. God is upending everything I once loved. Football is out. It’s no longer about the game. Politics:  this guts me on a cellular level. Thinking it was an avenue to help fellow man, I now recoil with a ferocity I could never imagine.

I’m now reading books as if its my full time job. I love it. I can learn. I can explore. I can agree to disagree. And its given me an opening to a world I once abandoned in search of greener pastures. The Prodigal Son returns in so many ways. I’m learning contentment in a way I could have only dreamed of before.

  1. I'm a list maker too. And I, too, feel so grateful for the gift of aging. It is hard when I see my kiddos growing up so fast. That part could slow down. :) I still enjoy some of those things in my life, but I do keep a focus on the Lord every day. I talk to Him often and about everything. All day long really. And it is sad how so many worship the wrong things. Blessings on your week! xo

  4. This world is going too fast in different direction but we human beings need our own tempo. We need time to celebrate moments, stop, think, pray , tak with people. we are not in race , we have a law to walk in our own tempo. Take care xx

  6. Yep! We have turned the news off, too much doom and gloom, don't watch sport, we have turned to Korean films, believe it or not, most of it a fantasy story, but at least it's fun too. I agree with what you have done, we are the same here in the UK. Take care and feel loved. x
